Cross Country men 7th, women 8th at Nationals

The PVCC Cross Country team fell just short of the NJCAA National Championship on November 4th in El Paso, Texas. The men’s team finished seventh and the women finished eighth. Puma runners Samantha and Heath Hatch were named All-Americans after their top 15 finishes.
While their ultimate goal was not reached, the season was still a strong one for coach Dave Barney's long distance runners, as the men and women finished second and fourth, respectively, at the NJCAA Region I championships.
Several Puma runners were awarded individual accolades, including Samantha Hatch who won her first individual Region I title. Teammate Heather West placed a close second and Rebecca Meaker came in fifth.
Matthew Rowell, Heath Hatch, Juan Quintero and Scott Mayberry finished 5, 6, 7 and 8, in that order for the men’s Region I. Freshmen Mayberry and Quintero will both be returning next year.
