Over the past decade, PVCC has produced quality athletes who are also stellar students, and Stephanie Willard is one of them. Willard is a PVCC sophomore and is one of many leaders on both the women’s national champion cross-country team and the women’s track and field team.More impressively, she carries a 4.0 GPA, while taking up to 17 credit hours a semester. She has maintained this GPA throughout both years at PVCC. At Thunderbird High School she graduated with a 3.9. Willard also finds time to participate as an active member of the PVCC Honors Programs and is on this past semester’s Dean’s List. Willard is undecided about her major, but looks to attend Brigham Young University after community college. In addition to all of her previous accolades, Willard is currently attending college on a Presidential Scholarship. The modest Willard replied that her tip for success is to pay attention. “You can’t just hear what the instructors are teaching, you have to listen as well,” says Willard. Willard looks at former Release Society President for the Latter Day Saints, Sherri Dew, as her role model, and is inspired by her to achieve success. “It’s important for me to perform well academically, so I can be successful and get a good job,” says Willard. Of her personal traits, Willard notes the following: Organized or Scattered?—Scattered Quiet or Loud?—Quiet Fiction or Non-Fiction?—Fiction Book or Movie?—Movie Girly or Tomboy?—Tomboy Favorite Music?—Country Favorite Subject ?—Math Hobbies?—Running and Rock Climbing Hours per week studying?—10 hours |
