Now that the Arizona fall heat wave has subsided, it is time to check out the new winter fashions. This winter there are a variety of styles offering something for everyone.

Lori Foleno, Store Manager for Millers Outpost, 320 E. Bell Rd. in the Fountain Square Shopping Center, says the new looks for winter include cargo pants, the khaki look, earth tones, flared legs and drawstring items.

Nikki Mousseau, Manager at Wetseal, 21001 N. Tatum Blvd. in the Desert Ridge Marketplace, says that mini skirts, caprices, denim and initials on everything are the looks for winter.

Pants are always a necessity for winter and Foleno insists that "denim is still hot."

She recommends plain five-pocket jeans or a pair that has a lot of zippers. She prefers low hipped jeans and pants. "The lower, the better," says Foleno.

As for tops, screen t-shirts and stripes will be big this winter, says Foleno. The most popular colors for the stripe pattern are green and burgundy. Long sleeve shirts include boat neck sweaters and turtlenecks.

She adds that the layering look will be perfect for Arizona’s cold weather—a tank top covered by a long sleeve or standard t-shirt. Finally, the look is topped off with a shorter jacket in natural colors says Foleno. This season the jackets feature multiple pockets and are made from corduroy or other heavier twill and nubby knits.

As for fabric and material, plaid and checkers are forecasted to be big, says Foleno. Mousseau agrees that plaid will be a popular print. She also likes floral patterns.

Foleno sees items in black and natural colors this winter, but Mousseau says red, pink and black will be top sellers.

Mousseau’s favorite winter fashions include dressy tops, track jackets and tennis athlete shoes. On the other hand, Foleno loves the new look called urban chic. This look involves a pair of cargo pants and a dressy top. The look can be both casual and fancy, says Foleno.

Foleno sees dressy materials, satiny fabrics and fancy detailing to be popular as the winter holidays approach.

For accessories, Mousseau likes chain belts, arm bands, purses, cab hats and earrings.

She recommends "one stud and one dangly."

The accessories that Foleno suggest are belts, beanies, scarfs, natural colored and fiber handbags or purses with detail. "Stars are on everything," especially sliver detailed stars says Foleno.

Accessories can change every outfit and every woman should buy a "scarf and a belt with detail," says Foleno. If you have money to spare, invest in a denim, pleated skirt and a good pair of boots, she adds.
