PVCC Puma Press October 2002: Features

Students were greeted on the first day of the semester by a puma, over five-feet-tall. Although it's not real, the puma is now part of the school.

This past summer PVCC's Student Life purchased a new mascot uniform for the school. The Student Leadership Council has been working on the idea of a mascot for some time.

"Student Leadership planned it and Student Life purchased it," says Heather Anderson, Student Life Program Coordinator. "It was a collaboration."

The costume looks like a full body puma. It will be used for various school functions and sporting events. Since it doesn't have a name yet, SLC is having a "Name the Puma" contest. A box will be placed in the Student Life office. The deadline for entries is Oct. 25.
