Paradise Valley Community College president, Dr. Gina Kranitz, is currently on medical leave until her expected return Nov. 10.

According to Dr. Paul Dale, dean of learning support services, she requested that no information be released regarding her medical condition other than that she is "using this opportunity to recuperate and rest until her scheduled return."

Kranitz started her tenure at PVCC as interim president in May 1999 and became President in May, 2001. For the past three years, she has been chosen as one of the top 10 women in higher education in Arizona by "Today's Arizona Woman" magazine.

Dale has been appointed acting president until Kranitz returns. Dale is managing Kranitz's many job responsibilities with the assistance of the administration and others on campus.

He says, "There are many able leaders on campus. All of us are pitching in together. We've just collaboratively pulled together and still maintain our own responsibilities."
