Editor-in-chief
Dr. Julia Devous, director of Institutional Advancement, has announced that current efforts on the visual identity design project, which includes the search for the new college logo, will be postponed indefinitely due to a strategic decision from college leadership to use the project funds elsewhere.
Enrollment at PVCC has not grown for several years, says Dr. Mary K. Kickels, college president. Therefore, without the growth, strategic budget decisions were made to maintain balanced budgets. Resulting cuts included the logo search.

Special

The local radio station, KZZP, was raffling off a “not authentic” Ghostbustermobile that night. Haynes and his friends couldn’t have picked a better time or place to make their first appearance as the Ghostbusters. The crowd at the haunted house showed their support through cheers.

By Kenneth Lesinski
Editor-in-chief
The Golden Gavels will report to the Faculty Senate on Oct. 4 that administration has implemented a majority of its recommended changes, resulting in a return to the culture of shared governance experienced with previous administrators.
Tensions developed last year when the Faculty Senate identified problem areas in their relations with administration, such as strategic planning, budget processes and professional courtesy, says Dr. Hank Mancini, Gavels co-chair.

| SIS delayed until spring
By Janice L. Semmel
Community Editor
Anticipation of the new Student Information System hit a snag when the Chancellor’s Executive Committee announced on Sept. 20 that the “go-live” date for SIS would be moved from Oct. 9, 2007 to a new date in the spring.
In response to the SIS postponement, Paul Golisch, PVCC co-project manager, says that even though the PVCC Implementation Team suffered initial disappointment at the postponement, they continue to attend meetings and accomplish work responsibilities. Team members will use the extra time to conduct more training sessions for students and faculty and conduct more testing on the system.
