Festival of Tales at Paradise Valley Community College

On Dec. 3rd, the Art of Storytelling classes will host the family friendly event, Festival of Tales at Paradise Valley Community College’s KSC building. The community event welcomes PVCC students and club members, community members and children from 10 a.m.to1 p.m.to experience the magic of storytelling. Admission is free and children will go home with free books.

Martina Rodriguez, a current student at Paradise Valley Community College, wanders through the Jo and Warren Buxton Library. She desperately tries finding a resource for an essay that is due in a few short hours. In a rush, she turns the corner and sees a poster that reads, “Text a Librarian.” Rodriguez follows the simple instructions and is quickly connected with a librarian and texts her question, “Where can I find a book about new medicine with reliable information I can use to cite from?” A response is sent to her phone via text within minutes.
Learning center adds communications tutors

In mid-October, Paradise Valley Community College’s Learning Support Center, or LSC, began offering communication as a tutoring subject.
The communications department has a variety of classes that cover public speaking, human, interpersonal, small group, intercultural and health communication. The different levels of communication classes aid in giving students the ability to work with others and be able to present in front of groups of people.
Transfer program announced

The Grand Canyon University has made it much easier to graduate with a degree in Nursing and Health Science with a transfer program that works with most colleges and universities in Arizona.
PTK holds literacy book drive
Phi Theta Kappa is going to hold a book drive to help benefit the National Center for Family Literacy, an organization which helps entire families become literate in America.
