The nostalgic old building with its copper domed roof and other notable municipal buildings, which have served the state legislature for over one-hundred years my find themselves on the auction block as soon as the end of the year.
The Capital building, which now houses the Arizona Capital Museum was build in 1898, and serves only for the purpose of the museum. The adjacent buildings where the legislators meet may also be on the block.
The legislature is proposing to find ways out of this economic crisis by going into the real-estate business.
The state is looking into auctioning several other government buildings to offset the extremities of the run-away state budget.
Several private investors have expressed interest in most of the five to seven buildings around Phoenix, which include the copper domed capital.
The budget has prompted several lawmakers to act hastily and irresponsible in dealing with this very important issue. What surprises are next for the State of Arizona, or the country; a for sale sign on The White House lawn? Perhaps the Arizona Legislature can hold its next session at Denny’s. |
