The Grand Canyon University has made it much easier to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology with a transfer program that works with all Maricopa County community colleges.
On Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 Dr. W.L. “Hank” Mancini, Ph.D., Science Division chair, along with his partner, Office Coordinator Terry Adriance, MBA, gave a presentation on the new Grand Canyon University transfer program.
This program allows students to take specific classes for three years at any Maricopa County Community College District college, then to transfer to Grand Canyon University for one more year to finish out their degrees.
The enrollment process is simple. A student may pick up an MCCCD Grand Canyon Biology Transfer Program brochure from Dr. Mancini’s office in G114, or call 602-787-6642 to identify the coursework required. Transfer scholarships for up to $7,000 are available through the program, depending on grade point averages.
The degrees this program supports are pre-medicine, pre-physician assistant, pre-pharmacy and pre-physical therapy. This program allows students to have a destination and arrive to that destination in a four-year period. Mancini’s goal is to have college degrees be obtainable in a four-year process as he feels they should be. “When you start high school, you are always called the class of the year you are to graduate, so you know you’ll be done in four years. That’s how college used to be and that’s what I’m striving for with this program,” explained Mancini.
