Game Review: Call of Duty-MW3
Game series continues to thrill

Modern Warfare

The “Call of Duty” video game series has been around for a while. The latest entry into its “Modern Warfare” series is a must-have with it s excellent graphics and addictive multiplayer game play.
The game comes with some very sharp visuals running at 60 frames per second, to play this on a high definition television is very immersive. The menu layouts are pretty much the same from previous games and give you choices of what kind of game you want to play.

You have a choice of Campaign, which is the main storyline mode. You have Special Ops, which contains the all-new survival mode and is very fun to play . Survival Mode is comparative to Zombie Mode from “Call of Duty: Black Ops,” but instead of having to fight off zombies, you have to fight off waves of human soldiers all trying to take you out. The variety of different enemies that come after you is unique because you never know who you’re going to go up against. Everything from waves of regular soldier squads to suicide bombers comes at you, and it is very fun, especially when you team up with someone online and decide to do some damage.

The other part of special ops is objective-based missions where you have to dismantle bombs and a variety of different objectives to advance to the next level. The incentives of playing through special ops mode is promotion and earning rank as you move to the next levels of the game.

Campaign Mode is pretty much story line based, and it picks up where the last “Modern Warfare” game left off. This is also fun in that it immerses you in first person based gameplay with weapons that have a futuristic feel to them and in-game cinematics that make you swear you were just in an action movie. One level has the player take control of a motorized boat and go after the bad guys while the entire environment is being demolished all around ; you don’t even get water sprays on the camera. It’s those little details that make it so good.

The multiplayer gameplay returns once again, and it is far more addicting when you play it against other people online. You go to different locales , choose your weapons, and play in a variety of different games, such as Team Deathmatch, C apture the Flag and Demolition. The new addition to multiplayer this year is Kill Confirmed mode. This is just like Team Deathmatch, but instead of playing for points, you play for the other player’s dog tags. Once you’ve snatched up a dog tag, it’s a kill confirmed, hence the name. An app called “Elite” has been added as well. It tracks your multiplayer progress and actually helps you become a better player by analyzing your patterns of weaponry and map points for better kills.

All in all, I heavily enjoyed “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3,” and its different styles of gameplay. It is very fun to play, especially online against other opponents and is very addicting. The storyline based campaign mode is also very fun to take in and live out. Bottom line: if you like first person shooter-based games, “Modern Warfare 3” is the one game you’ll love.
