Didn’t get scholarship money last year? Here’s an opportunity to try again.
March 25 is the deadline for the Faculty Association sponsored scholarship that provides payment for up to a full semester containing 12 credit hours of classes to any continuing PVCC student.
“The PVCC Faculty Association created the scholarship because of its strong interest in helping students succeed in their academic efforts,” says Gary Smith, Business and Information Technology faculty.
To qualify, a student must:
• Have a declared major and be currently enrolled at PVCC;
• Have a current GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 12 credit hours in transferable courses at the 100 level or above;
• Register for at least 6 credit hours in the fall 2009 term; and
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and an Arizona resident at the time of application.
All applications must include a one- to two-page essay answering the following three questions:
1. What factors or influences led you to select your major?
2. In what ways will your education prepare you for your chosen career?
3. Why do you feel you deserve this scholarship?
Also, the application must include two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from a PVCC adjunct or residential faculty, professional staff or administration employee.
Students will find applications at the financial aid office or online at www.pvc.maricopa.edu/finaid/documents/Facultyscholarship.doc. Applications are also in print at the library and KSC building and in the secretary’s office of each division.
The Faculty Association has a membership of 98 people who help fund the scholarship from dues paid to the PVCC Faculty Association.
“The Faculty Association is the faculty’s way of financially supporting our students,” says Sue VanBoven, Faculty Senate president. |
