Dr. Bains has taught General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry for over 16 years. His experience includes teaching at Arkansas State University-Beebe, University of Tennessee, and Southern Illinois University before joining PVCC. He has been teaching at PVCC for the last 5 years.
His research background is in mechanistic and synthetic organic chemistry, which includes synthesis of new fluorinating reagents and their reactions with carbonyl electrophiles, stereochemistry of 4+2 cycloaddition reactions and heterogeneous catalysis. Dr. Bains has published his research articles in Journal of Organic Chemistry, Tetrahedron Letters, Tetrahedron: Asymmetry, and Tetrahedron. He has also presented his research papers at various American Chemical Society meetings and was honored by AATYC with an outstanding faculty award.
Dr. Bains likes to travel to different places and meet people of various cultures and experiences.
