Baseball Field

The Maricopa County Community College District Governing Board approved the construction of a baseball field and connecting walkways to Q Building (the former County Library) in January 2008. Through the MCCCD bid process Paul R. Peterson Construction was awarded the contract for both projects. Financing for the baseball field came from PVCC Fund 2- Athletics, and the walkway was funded through 2004 General Obligation Bond funds. The PVCC Pumas intercollegiate baseball team began play in Spring 2009, competing within the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC) and the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Baseball is the 12th addition to the Paradise Valley Athletics Program. Paradise Valley Community College first discussed the possibilities of adding baseball in 2001 after a community needs assessment was completed. In 2004 an ad hoc committee was formed to review the overall sustainability of a baseball program and the consensus was that we were ready: baseball is in line with our mission and values, and baseball enrollment is estimated to be about 50-60 prospective baseball student-athletes for fall 2008. About 40 will make the team.
