Hispanic Women’s Conference

By Martha Arroyo

What I learned in the women’s conference was that I can’t always depend on a guy and that women can be successful in anything. The speakers were amazing.  I really liked Maria Marin; she was very clear and determined to get our attention, and all the girls and women were paying attention. The other thing I liked was the workshop. They encouraged us to vote and I loved their Scholarship Benefit Luncheon. It was very helpful and good. I really didn’t dislike anything. It was really helpful and fun. What surprised me was how fun it was; I had been in so many conventions and this was the first one that I really thought was fun and I would like to go next year.

More information on the National Hispanic Women’s Conference, sponsored by the Hispanic Women’s Corporation (HWC)

The 24th National Hispanic Women’s Conference is held annually in Phoenix, Arizona.  As the largest gathering of Latinas in the nation, the conference aims to motivate, educate, and provide a prime opportunity to build lasting and beneficial relationships with other women and sponsoring organizations nationwide. Over the course of two days, HWC provides the opportunity for growth and development through participation in the conference institutes: Executive, Professional, Mis Negocios en Español and Youth Leadership Institutes.

For the past 14 years, the Hispanic Women's Corporation (HWC) has dedicated one day of its National Conference towards outreach to our younger Latina student population. Each year HWC invites 500 Latinas from high schools around the country. The Youth Leadership Institute focuses on offering Latina high school students the guidance and information necessary to pursue their academic and career goals.
