VI. 2004 Capital Development Program
Summary of Capital Needs


Following is a summary of capital development projects proposed to occur over the next 14-year period. While specific technology needs have not yet been determined and finalized for these projects, it is anticipated that Paradise Valley Community College will continue to build technology rich facilities in support of learning and service to students. (Disclaimer: as of February 12, 2004, these projects continue to be in draft form and still require finalization by the college.)

New Classroom Building
(defined: 10 equipped with substantial technology and 11 with limited technology)
• 21 general purpose classrooms
• 12 faculty offices, conference, work, storage room and support area
• 2 works areas for adjunct faculty
• Video/editing/sound/computer lab
• 60-seat lecture/small performance room
• 32-seat tiered lecture room
• Resource room
• 6 computer labs
• 2 music practice rooms
• 6 staff offices
• Computer training classroom/computer resources room

Building G Remodel (convert existing classroom space)
(defined: 1 equipped with substantial technology and 3 with limited technology)
• Physical sciences/AJS forensics laboratory

New Classroom/Biology Labs
(defined: 4 equipped with substantial technology and 4 with limited technology)
• 8 biology labs with support areas (labs will require teacher stations and wireless laptops or other devices)
• Microbiology prep room
• 8 faculty offices, conference, work, storage room, support area
• 1 adjunct faculty work area with small conference room
• 8 general purpose classrooms

Building H Remodel (convert existing Biology labs to Geology and Chemistry labs)
(labs will require teacher stations and wireless laptops or other devices)
• 2 Geology labs
• 3 Chemistry labs

Building M Addition (add space adjacent to art studio)
• Ceramics studio

New Multipurpose Center
(classrooms and labs will require teacher stations and wireless laptops or other devices)
• Gymnasium
• 12 faculty offices, conference, work, storage room, and support area
• 4 general purpose classrooms
• Allied Health Skills Lab
• Activity room
• Adjunct faculty work area

Student Services (B) Building Remodel
• Additional student use computers -- cybercafe
• Food service
• Student Union (expand area)
• Assessment Center relocation to first floor
• College Safety (expand area)

Child Development Center
• 2 Child Development Center classrooms
• Observation room/art studio
• Office space
• Workroom/faculty office space
• Classroom storage
• Laundry, kitchen, food storage

Building E Remodel
• Convert existing internal pedestrian mall to accommodate growth in Library, Computer Commons, and Learning Support Center services

Inner Loop Road Completion
• Completion of campus inner loop road to improve vehicular circulation and access

Campus Entrance Pedestrian Mall
• Realign main campus drive to allow safe pedestrian access to campus core from campus perimeter

New Central Technology Network
(anticipate $500,000)
• Upgrade existing collegewide technology network

Collegewide Security Systems
(anticipate $950,000)
