| Goal 1: Explore, develop, integrate, evaluate, and refine access to and use
of technologies to enhance student learning in the context of
the indicators of a learning-centered college |
a. Research current use patterns
of technology which lead to increased student learning, motivation,
and/or retention
b. Plan, implement, and evaluate
technology to produce data to provide program improvements |
- Achieving Optimal Institutional
Effectiveness Through Strategic Planning, Assessment, Higher
Learning Commission (HLC) Self-Study and Program Review
- Increased Student Success
Through Engagement
|
| Goal
2: Maintain and expand the technology infrastructure, both
physical and human resources, in support of learning |
a. Continue cycle of replacement
of current install base of computers (faculty, staff, and classroom)
and multimedia systems to prevent obsolescence and to create
teaching and learning environments that are as modern as possible.
This is especially important in programs where technology is
the tool for learning, for instance chemistry and physics labs,
Microsoft Technology Program, math classes, computer and programming
courses
b. Expand infrastructure to new
buildings with wireless connectivity to network resources for
mobility and flexibility in computer classroom implementations
c. Equip the Performing Arts
Center with technology
d. Expand wireless infrastructure
to allow for student personal laptop and electronic device connections
(such as PDAs and tablets) to network resources in areas where
they wish to create their own learning communities
e. Implement the New Student
Information System to provide improved access to data and information
and allow students a greater degree of self service to college
registration and transactions
f. Design new classroom spaces
with access to multimedia equipment including videoconferencing
g. Expand and strengthen infrastructure
to support an increase in e-Learning (alternative and distance
delivery) opportunities for students
h. Respond to the technology needs of new instructional
programs such as Music, Dance, Nursing, and Art that are developing
strong technology components and the technology needs of new
offsite programs and services such as the PVCC North site
g. Recruit, hire, and retain technically qualified staff
to support technology
h. Develop training and support
resources as needed to assist students in the use of instructional
technology tools such as Blackboard, Midas, and New Student
System. |
- Stewardship and Alignment
of Resources
- Increased Student Success
Through Engagement
|
Goal 3: Maximize limited technology-directed resources to meet increased
demand. |
a. Consolidate applications and
services to enable universal and easy access for students to
computing resources. (Universal access includes email access,
file server space, web space, course management systems, e-portfolio,
library, student information system transactions)
b. Provide timely, up-to-date
technology training resources in support of instruction to include:
hands-on computer workshops, one-on-one consultation, software
helpline, training manuals, step-by-step guides, and training
CD library.
c. Investigate, develop, and
support external partnerships to maximize technology resources |
