Technology Training Needs Assessment Results

A survey to assess PVCC employee technology training needs was distributed and collected in October '97. Over 600 forms were distributed, 156 were returned by the deadline. A few were returned after the results were tabulated, though not included, they did fit the pattern of the group tabulated.

The results of this Needs Assessment will be used as the basis for decisions of the newly formed Technology Training Implementation Plan Project Team. The results are presented below. Respondents simply answered "yes" or "no" to response choices. The numbers presented below are raw numbers (not percentages). The survey had four major parts: 1) when to offer training , 2) what would be an incentive to attend training sessions, 3) delivery methods, and 4) areas of training needed.



Top Ten Training Areas Requested
Respondents had 30 areas of training queried with an option of "other" provided. Twenty-six "other" reponses came back with only two responses having duplicates. The top ten choices are shown below:

When Can You Participate In Technology Training?
Respondents had six options of when training might be offered. The first four options were during the Spring 1998 semester and the last two offered a special training window of opportunity immediately following the Spring 1998 semester. Note: The Macintosh Computer Labs will be moving during the first May option and will only be available during the second May option.

Which Would Be Incentives To Attend Training?
Respondents had six options of incentives offered. The query was to determine potential incentives which could be pursued as incentives as training sessions were developed.
