Technology Coordinating Team Meeting Summary –April 18, 2000

Meeting Summary

 

Technology Training – Cathy shared a draft of a position description for an Educational Computer Systems Trainer that has been submitted for consideration of supplemental funding. This position will provide training on computer systems and applications.

 

Ocotillo – Jon distributed a flier on “Destination: Maricopa” the district’s Ocotillo retreat. Jon is still soliciting showcase presentations. This year’s focus will be on demonstrations and showcases on technology applications in the district.

 

Occupational Technology Coordination  - Mary Lou shared a copy of the Criteria for Funding Occupational Capital Requests. Discussion took place on the overall planning process for occupational funding in the context of the College’s strategic planning process.

 

Automated Planning and Budget Project – Jeanne demonstrated the automated budget planning system. The eight step, web enabled, system was outlined including- general budget information, user planning budget tools, user budget input, budget requests preview, budget decisions made, budget requests status, institutional effectiveness, and user evaluation.

 

Strategic Planning Capital Budget Review Committee – Goal Development 2001/2002 –  Goals and replacement criteria were approved at SPC.

 

·         Explore, develop, implement, evaluate and refine access to and use of technology to enhance student learning in the context of the indicators of a learning centered college.

 

·         Maintain and expand the technology infrastructures (physical and human) in support of learning.

 

·         Maximize technology resources to meet increased demand for learning initiatives.

 

Common Pages Review – The issue of “attempting…” conduct covered in items 15 has been presented to the deans of student services council.  The deans of student services have forward the requested edit to the next step in the process.

 

Citrix System Demonstration – Citrix is a server based computing system. Clients can be Internet or Intranet based and run an operating system that is remote. This may be an alternative to the PC based systems.

Decisions Made/Action Taken

·        Jon will send out another invitation to Ocotillo.

·        Bob to address division chairs on program development within the context of strategic planning.

·        Decided to conduct a demonstration of the server-based Application Service Provider (Citrix) solution via a E&OL Learning Week session in August 2000.  Cathy Hart and Rick Sheets will co-chair a project team responsible for planning and coordinating the session.  Special invitations will be sent to select individuals who will have a special interest in this session.  The session will be open to all PVCC employees.  Rick will coordinate with Ned to have the session included on the Learning Week schedule of sessions.

·        Everyone on TCT elected to continue membership on this committee assignment next year.
