Members of
the Paradise Valley Community College staff developed the first
version of "Points of Pride"
in an endeavor to showcase the college's efforts in three major
areas:
- becoming
learner centered;
- showing
the college's connections to its community; and
- communicating
our strategic planning initiative and displaying the relationship
between strategic initiatives and district goals.
President
Kranitz and members of the administrative team used the document
to summarize some of Paradise
Valley Community College's most recent activities when Chancellor
Fred Gaskin initially visited the college in June.
Staff revised
the document in August, rearranging the sections and adding
several "points of pride."
We hope that
"Points of Pride" will never be seen as comprehensive
or finished. Many important activities of which we can be justifiably
proud are not included in this first revision because key faculty
members were away from the college on vacation and could not
be consulted to develop or edit narratives on certain programs.
Time constraints limited the number of narratives, which could
be developed. Other activities, although of critical importance
to the college, did not fit well within the admittedly constrained
themes of the first edition.
"Points
of Pride" is intended to be an on-going, changing,
and never completed work.
It's major
purpose is to remind all of us at Paradise Valley Community
College of the many accomplishments of our faculty and staff
as we move toward our goal of being the most effective learning
and service organization in Arizona.
