Technology Coordinating Team

The technology coordinating team (TCT) functions as a sub-committee of PVCC's Strategic Planning Council .

TCT acts in four major capacities. First, it develops broad based, technology driven strategic initiatives in a Three Year Technology plan which assists departments and divisions of the college in the development of goals, objectives and action plans related to technology within the unit. Second, the TCT researches and responds to inquiries related to technology based issues such as computing, training, alternative delivery systems, and infrastructure needs. Third, the TCT reviews unit technology budget requests to identify college wide technology issues (extant and emerging), to promote systemic solutions for technology issues, and to make linkages between various units at the college. Finally, the TCT develops, reviews, updates, and strives to continuously improve technology planning processes and communications linkages among relevant departments, divisions, and committees at the college.

For 2000-2001, TCT plans to address six major goals:

1) To evaluate PVCC's use of and access to technology in the context of a learner centered college.

2) To maintain and expand the technology infrastructure.

3) To maximize technology resources to meet increased demand for learning resources.

4) To integrate existing and new technology into the learning process to enhance student learning.

5) To integrate technology, professional development and training opportunities into the college's Employee and Organizational Learning initiative.

6) To investigate, develop, and support external partnerships to maximize technology resources.

TCT's 1999-2000 achievements include developing and implementing an annual technology planning process and a strategic master plan for technology; assisting in the restructuring of the micro-computer commons for learner centeredness; development of a college information technology policy, and measured recommendations for dealing with possible Y2k problems and the issues of transitioning to a new e-mail system. One of its most significant achievements was a comprehensive inventory of all technology resources along with a foundational plan to assure the timely replacement of obsolete hardware and software.
