Jennifer and Jim updated us on the following:
a) Ocotillo covers the NMC Conference on Visual Literacy, april
5-6, 2005
This wiki will be used by our Maricopa Ocotillo Emerging Technologies
Team to share notes from the april 2005 NMC Online Conference on
Visual Literacy. The conference will explore how emerging ideas,
constructs, tools, and theories are fueling new interest in visual
communication. For more on the conference and format, check out
http://zircon.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/emerging/wiki?VisLitConf and

Our very own Jim Patterson , Donna Rebadow, and Jennifer Strickland
were part of the Maricopa team. Just as a heads up, in order to
post anything on wiki, you need an account
b) Jim said that there will be a conference on Ethical Hacking
from June 27 - July 1. More information will be forthcoming.
c) Digital Days - scheduled for May 21 and 22 (Saturday and Sunday)
- Jim said it's still up in the air and will report back on its
status at our next meeting. The plan is to hold this in the studio
theater. The cost is $139 for two days, without the discount. Jim
will look into the discount.
2) SPT and PBRC:
Cathy informed us that SPT will be meeting today and will check
into the situation about the final decision regarding funding. PBRC
has not met yet this spring semester.
3) StudyMate/SoftChalk:
Chrystle reported about a StudyMate workshop where there were 5
participants. The general consensus was that they were not impressed
with the Learning Units. Feedback will be provided from the participants.
Jennifer reported the John Lampignano of GateWay is going ahead
with purchasing SoftChalk.
4) Summer Technology Fun Week:
Chrystle reported that the website has been updated for 2005. Check
out http://www.pvc.maricopa.edu/~training/sti/index.html for more
information and to access the survey. She said the survey that was
mailed out earlier will be available through the weekend (see attached
on today's agenda handed out at the meeting). The results will be
tabulated on Monday.
So far there are 15 responses. Of those responses, people are tending
to favor the following proposed workshops: Blackboard, Blogging,
E-Portfolios, Inspiration, Cantasia, DreamWeaver, PhotoShop Elements,
and StudyMate.
Chrystle et al. will have a meeting Monday to determine what will
be offered and who will do the workshops. Registration announcement
will be coming soon.
