Example of a Reading plan

I don’t really like to read, so making this plan is really going to help me focus and make sure I do it!

What Am I interested in?

The kinds of things I am interested in include gardening, all kinds of sports, and traveling.  I also like to watch telenovelas, which are called soap operas in English. Now I know soap operas are TV and not reading, but I found out there is a magazine about soaps that I can subscribe to, or maybe get at the library.  I know I can go online and do a Google search for soap operas and read about them there.  I could read about the history of soap operas in America and Mexico, or I could read about my favorite stars.

I will go to the library and see if there are some gardening books to help me figure out what kind of flowers to plant in my front yard where there is only shade.  In the back yard I have the opposite problem—sunny and hot all day.  Maybe the book can help on that, too.

I will read the sports pages of the newspaper and maybe check out the magazine aisle at the Safeway store to see if there is a sports magazine I would like.   I will also check out the library for a sports biography for my favorite player.  Or, I might go to Borders Books to see what books they have on their sale table.

When will I read?

I’m pretty busy, because I work as well as go to school, so I can’t read the same time every day.   But I can schedule different times for each day:

When                                                  Where

Monday morning 8:30                           PVCC Library

Tuesday afternoon 4:30                        On break, at work

Wednesday morning 8:30                     PVCC Library

Thursday afternoon 4:30                       On break, at work

Friday afternoon, 1:00                          At home

Saturday night                                       Get a life!

Sunday night, 8:00 P.M.                       At home
