Who is eligible to apply?
Current visual arts students who have ever enrolled in a 200 level studio course are eligible to apply.

How do I apply?
Download the below listed application form, fill it out and submit to the Fine and Performing Arts secretaries (first floor M building East) along with 10 jpegs of your recent work and a brief statement of purpose.

When do I apply?
The fall deadline is 5pm, the first Monday after Thanksgiving.
The spring deadline is 5pm, the first Monday in April.

What are the selection criteria?
Recipients demonstrate a passion and purpose for their art with work done beyond class assignments.The work should indicate a measure of skill.

This award carries a prize of full-tuition for the next academic year. This award is by faculty nomination only. Upon request, candidates must submit a 250 word artist statement to the jurors.

Nominations are based on recognized achievement in the following areas:
• Excellence in the classroom
• Fostering of creativity and collaboration on campus
• Development of personal awareness and aesthetics
• Respect for others and tolerance of diverse opinions
• Creative problem solving

Criteria for the Fine and Performing Arts Scholarship:
• Full-time enrollment with officially declared major in a Fine and Performing Arts discipline
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours by the end of the award semester
• Continuing, Degree–seeking student for the following year

This award carries a significant prize contingent upon funds raised annually by the department.

Nominations are based on recognized achievement in the following areas:
• A comprehensive commitment to creativity and collaboration
• An interdisciplinary approach to the creation of artwork
• Work of significant impact to the quality of learning at PVCC

Criteria for The Gene Rister Award for the Most Outstanding Student:
• Full-time enrollment with officially declared major in a Fine and Performing Arts discipline
• A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Completion of a minimum of 24 credit hours by the end of the award semester
