Tutor Training (EDU102)

Level I Tutor Training -

Tutor training can be taken for credit (EDU102 1 credit hour) or as paid time (each Seminar is worth 3 hours of paid time).

NOTE: In order to be credited for the seminar, learning logs must be accepted. Any logs needing additional work will be returned within two weeks of submission date. Logs not returned within two weeks have been accepted.

             Pre-tutoring video clips and a learning log

After completing Pre-tutoring Requirements, tutor applicants are considered tutor interns and can begin tutoring while completing the Tutor Intern Requirements below for Level 1.

Tutor Intern Requirements: Remaining Four Level I Tutor Training Seminars

Seminar 2: Friday, 2/8/2008, 2:00-5:00pm
             
 Learning Theory, Learning Preferences, and Empowering Students to be Successful
             Attendance & completed Learning Log.
             Presentation 1, Presentation 2, Learning Log

Seminar 3: Online Friday, 2/15/2008 or whenever--it is on your own (plan on approimately 3 hours)
             A Metacognitive Approach to Study Strategies

             Online Training Seminar on "Learning Your Way."
             Description and Learning Log

Seminar 4: Friday, 2/22/2008 2:00-5:00pm
             Dealing with Changes in our Lives,
Diversity, Guiding Students to
             choose Greater
Personal Responsibility, and StudSpecial Needs
             Attendance & completed Learning Log.
            Presentation 1Presentation 2, Presentation 3, Learning Log

Seminar 5: Friday, 2/29/2008, 2:00pm-5:00pm
              Goal Setting, Self Management, and
the LSC in a Learning Centered College
              Presentation, Learning Log.

Also required is a minimum of 50 hours of tutoring students.

Level status change and pay increases go into effect the beginning of the semester following the completion of the training and experience requirements.

The next level of training is for Level II and it is optional.
