Copyright Myths

1. I'm an educator - I am always protected by Fair Use
   
2. We bought the CD so I can do anything with the sound, graphics, etc. that's on it
   
3. They'll never come after us because we are"Education"
   
4. We're a community college - they go after a University before they go after us
   
5. I'm using it for this lesson - so I can use a much of it as I want - every semester
   
6. I'm not charging anyone
   
7. I can copy the workbook because I want the students to have some practice exercises
   
8. We don't have and never will get the budget for this so I can copy it
   
9. The publisher didn't put it on the web for me - so I can
   
10. I didn't know/think it was a violation
    
11. Why even bother - everytime I've asked for permission - they laugh and wonder why I even bothered to call (since I'm in education)
    
12. It doesn't have the © symbol SO I can copy it!
    
13. Well, everyone else does it
