2007-08 USI Focus Team: Placement Testing

Membership: Tom B., Laurie C., Stephen N., Pam O., Stacey R., Christine T., Elaine W., Sandy Z.
PVCC Resources: Division/Department Chairs

Objectives:

  1. To review current placement assessment process and make recommendations
  2. To explore eliminating decision zones and suggest alternatives
  3. To review current course placement process and make recommendations, i.e. 4th course to have students qualify for full load
  4. To identify additional, non-developmental courses for iStart Smart cohort testing into developmental education courses
  5. To train academic advisors and counselors to interpret placement assessment scores and make course recommendations
  6. To explore plan to design/offer critical thinking per discipline courses
