Need Statement: College
101 is a comprehensive seminar grounded in research and
best practices in student success. Research has shown that
students who complete such a course experience more success
in college than those who do not. This course, rather than
being housed in any one discipline, is an integral part
of an entire college community in order to communicate the
idea that student success is integrated throughout all disciplines
and services.

Course Description:
Strategies for how to create success in college and in life.
Methods for choosing and developing effective academic strategies,
increasing self-awareness and developing self-management
strategies. Focus on understanding human interdependence,
especially among persons of diverse values and perspectives.
Evaluating effectiveness of chosen strategies and making
decisions on continued implementation of strategies.
