"Two years ago I was in the beginning stage of qualifying as a kidney donor. My blood type was correct but I feared I would not pass the stress test. I started on the treadmill for 15 minutes at a pace of 2 miles per hour. Finding I had more energy on the days I exercised, I started increasing my speed and distance. Then I decided to take control of my health and fitness.
Changing my mind set about exercising was truly a lifestyle change. I believe that since there are many things concerning our health that we cannot control, such as disease caused by heredity, we should take charge and do as much as possible to be healthy. Through exercise I have lowered my blood pressure and increased bone density. Going to the fitness center is a pleasure now... not a chore." |
